Hi, I’m Chris Duncan — Hall of Fame BMX athlete, mountain biker, and master bicycle mechanic.
My journey began at age 7, launching off dirt jumps on my Diamondback Viper BMX in the lot next to my parents’ house. Ten years later, I was riding professionally on the X games BMX dirt jump circuit, throwing down superman airs, backflips, and 360 variations that helped shape the freestyle scene of the early 2000s.
Highlights of my career include setting three world records, being featured as a character in a PlayStation BMX video game, and personally building and maintaining every bike I competed on. I’ve led clinics on mountain biking and urban riding techniques, spoken on BMX culture, and participated in global Q&As about bikes developed with my input.
In 2009, I launched Hoopty Bikes in the heart of San Francisco after discovering a passion for restoring vintage road bikes. By 2015, I moved the business to Los Angeles and transformed it into the city’s leading mobile bike assembly and repair service — powered by the same creativity, craftsmanship, and dedication that fueled my riding career.
For me, Hoopty Bikes is more than a business — it’s a way to share the freedom, fitness, and love of cycling every day!
